Devlog #9 - Taupe-inambour

Devlog # 9

Final week of production ends here. Woe be to all the features we did not finish for the game; your legacy shall not be forgotten. Now begins the end of this whole process, the ever-important polishing phase. The game runs fine, people seem to understand whats going on, and the art doesn't burn your eyes when looked at - now, it's time to push everything just a bit further for the next two weeks.

ART

> Idle animations were added.

>  Outline shader was created to help clarity.

> A lot of UI elements were introduced.

> Some VFX was created to make the broken state of machines clearer. A repair VFX was introduced as well.

Programming

This week was all about finishing up what we had, and more importantly, finishing up the player feedback.

We now have an animation in place for running with an item, outliners for broken tasks, a depth meter, and item requirement popups that act as a timer. Since we had a few issues with players accidentally restarting the game we moved the restart button away from the interact button.

The outline shader

Outside of that, it was bugs, more bugs, and even more bugs. All players should now respawn upon a restart, players can't be yeeted from the level anymore and the furnace running out of fuel finally has an effect on the game loop.

We also made sure the containers don't break instantly after use, but instead have some kind of volume.

Besides that, the machines now request their item with a sign on the side. That will gradually go down and show how much time the player has left.

Also, players now have a shiny crown indicating the greediest player
